Nikon 85mm 1.4

March 13, 2015

This lens is my FAVORITE.  I love everything about it, especially when shooting portraits.  The depth of field is nice and shallow when I need it to be and everything just comes out so creamy, so crips, and just perfect when I am using the Nikon 85mm 1.4.  The G version of this lens is now available and worth the buy, but I love my D version also.

When shooting portraits, the 85mm is your very best friend and you will never regret having this lens if that is what you are needing to do with it.

When shooting inside… if you have a cropped sensor camera, this lens will just be too tight for you (we will address other lenses that will work better) but if you have a cropped sensor and want to shoot outside, there you go, perfect lens for portraits still.

For the person that wants to start taking photos of other people, do yourself a favor and grab an 85mm.  The 85 1.8 is a great grab also.

This is an FX lens and works especially well with on full framed (FX) and cropped sensor (DX) Nikons such as the D4, D800, D810, D7000, D700, D3X, D300s and the F6.   If you have a lowest, level Nikon such as D40, D60, D3000, D3100, D5000 or D5100 you will need to manually focus this lens.

Oh my! Yes, on my wish list! I don’t necessarily do a lot of portrait at the moment, but I am in need of a long lens to accompany my wide angle. I keep going back and forth between an 85 or the 70-200. Decisions, decisions…
